Nintendo being sued for $21 Million over patent infringment

In an interesting turn of events, our wiimote wielding friends over at Nintendo are being sued for $21 million, you would think that this is something about the the wiimote but its not, it is instead about the Gamecube controller and its brethren the Wavebird and the Wii classic controller.

From what I’ve been able to gather Nintendo is pretty cool about the chunk of change they are forking out, so it should go down fairly smooth.

People are also speculating that this lawsuit may be the reason that the Wavebird was taken off the shelves, so maybe after this all settles down Nintendo will start making them again?

Nintendo Loses $21 Million In Controller Patent Case - Nintendo has been ordered to pay $21 million to Anascape for patent infringement. 12 patents were under dispute, all based on the force feedback properties of the Gamecube pad. MS had already settled for an undisclosed sum.
